Field Service Engineer

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for customer satisfaction through the warranty and non-warranty services at customer sites related to UCT’s provided products that include on-site installation, repair, service, and product support. The role will provide regular updates to UCT and Customers.
Commercial activities include the timely completion of quotes and sales order invoices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General:
- Other responsibilities may be assigned at manager’s criteria to address dynamic company changes
- Communications:
- Involved in technical discussions with customer, assist Level 1 and Level 3
- Provide escalation details to Level 4 while maintaining engagement until resolution
- Technical: Repairs / Installations / Product Support: (Intermediate-Expert Levels)
- Interpret vacuum and electrical schematics
- Execute vacuum technology
- Assemble and disassemble gas distribution systems
- Leak detection / Test
- Helium Mass Spectrometer
- Identification and solution to product leaks
- Execute electrical and electronic technology
- Wire crimping tools, heat guns, soldering irons, drill motors, digital calipers, torque wrenches
- Proficient use of multimeter
- Mass Flow Controller: troubleshooting, replacement, digital interface
- Mechanical abilities
- Able to read and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) blueprints, Operational Method Sheets (OMS), and any other form of instructions to execute work
- Drill holes and tap threads, repair thermoplastics, troubleshoot or identification of leaks, retrofit kits, replacement of parts, upgrade top level assemblies, fill component shortages, torque validation, belt tension evaluation and repair
- Order Management (field service relevant):
- UCT ERP system – daily updates
- Commercial (field service relevant):
- Monitors customer invoices – cleared for payment status =>80% and escalate to Level 4 roadblocks to accomplish 100%
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Electro-mechanical aptitude
- Gas distribution, vacuum technology, leak detection
- Software and hardware interfaces with digital devices
- Assorted hand tools, precision torque tools, socket sets, drill motors, digital calipers, wire crimping tools, heat guns, solder/desolder irons
- Thermoplastics welding knowledge, metal welding knowledge
- Strong computer skills (MS Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and ERP database (SAP S/4 HANA) experience
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in technical, business, or an engineering discipline
Work Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a semiconductor or similar industry
