Job Description & Requirements

Student Management & Supervision

The officer monitors and manages students serving in-house suspension, those under the reintegration programme, and students sent out of class for time-out at the reflection centre. During these interactions, the officer applies restorative processes and uses teachable moments to guide student behaviour.

The officer also supervises students assigned to the reflection centre, ensuring that tasks assigned are meaningful and developmental in nature, and follows up with form teachers on students who have missed their sessions

Investigative & Case Support

The officer assists in preliminary investigations and fact-finding interviews for minor incidents, obtains student and witness statements where appropriate, and compiles evidence and structured incident reports for the relevant key personnel.

Student Engagement & Mentorship

The Guidance Officer builds positive relationships with students through regular engagement, mentoring, check-ins, and targeted social-emotional support. This includes fostering inclusion, positive peer interactions, and a stronger sense of belonging to the school.

The officer also conducts proactive patrolling to identify and engage students who may need additional support.

Parent Engagement

The officer engages parents and guardians as key partners in supporting their child’s development and behaviour. This includes conducting phone calls, meetings, or home visits where necessary to update parents on their child’s progress, discuss concerns, and co-develop strategies to reinforce positive behaviour and school attendance.

The officer maintains a respectful and collaborative approach in all parent communications.

Documentation & Case Management

The officer maintains accurate and up-to-date case notes for all students under intervention, documenting engagement sessions, behavioural progress, and outcomes. Regular case reviews are conducted with the HOD Student Management and relevant school staff.

Where a student’s needs exceed the school’s capacity, the officer supports the referral process to external agencies such as the Family Service Centre (FSC), Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), or other relevant community partners, in coordination with the School Counsellor (SC) or Student Welfare Officer (SWO).

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) The officer implements targeted SEL skill-building modules with selected students during pull-outs and is responsible for crafting and producing these modules to meet the needs of identified students. Officer may be required to give in-class support to observe and guide targeted students.

Administrative Support

The officer performs data entry for late-coming records, offences, and interventions, and compiles weekly or monthly discipline statistics as required. The officer also assists in monitoring the student reporting channel, liaises with form teachers to support learning continuity during suspension, and reviews detention, late-coming, and corrective work processes.

Confidentiality of all student information is to be maintained at all times. The officer may also be assigned any other administrative and operational duties pertaining to student management as directed by the school.
