The Department of Social Work was established in 1952 and provides professional social work education at the Undergraduate, Post-Graduate Diploma, Masters and PhD levels. In addition, the Department also provides Continuing Professional Education to empower social workers and other helping professionals in gaining the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviors required at different stages of their careers.
The successful candidate will be a key member of our Administrative team which supports the effective administration of the Department's various academic and research programmes and activities.
Key responsibilities of our Administrative team include:
- Managing enquiries and requests for assistance from the public, students, faculty members, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing the administrative processes of our various academic/research programmes, such as student outreach, enrolment, timetable scheduling, examinations, field placements (practicum/internships), scholarships/grant disbursements.
- Co-ordinating and supporting department activities and events, such as information sessions, orientation briefings, seminars, award ceremonies.
- Supporting data requests for management reporting, and supporting relevant payment and finance/budgeting activities.
- Identifying and working on process gaps and/or other areas for improvement.
- Supporting general office administration functions.
Additional responsibilities may arise, as needed, to support the team and/or department's goals.
Qualifications & Skills- A recognised degree in any discipline. Applications from diploma holders with relevant work experience, skills, and demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the role are also welcomed.
- Prior work experience in stakeholder, project management and/or administration, especially in the tertiary education sector, will be highly advantageous. Job title and salary will be commensurate with relevant work experience.
- IT-savvy as interaction with various NUS IT systems is required. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications is required. Experience with process automation tools e.g. Power Automate or AI will be highly advantageous.
- Strong administrative skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player who works well with others.
- Ability to adapt to change with a positive attitude to approach work challenges.
