Working Hours: 12 hours rotating shifts
- Shift 1: 8am-8pm
- Shift 2: 8pm-8am
Salary Package: Basic + Shift Allowances + Site Allowances + AWS + Variable Bonus
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute routine and complex operations including start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting of chemical process equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves, reactors, and heat exchangers.
- Oversee and perform preventive maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, line clearing, and minor repairs, ensuring minimal process disruption.
- Supervise the safe isolation of piping systems during plant shutdowns, product changeovers, or maintenance interventions.
- Monitor, interpret, and fine-tune process parameters independently to optimize plant performance, yield, and efficiency, escalating issues to Engineers when necessary.
- Coordinate and carry out the commissioning and decommissioning of process systems during project upgrades or equipment turnarounds.
- Lead and respond to plant emergency shutdowns and support all safety-critical operations in line with EHS procedures.
- Manage blending and reprocessing of non-conforming or off-spec products, ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and minimization of waste.
- Prepare and secure process equipment for scheduled mechanical maintenance or third-party servicing, including system flushing, purging, and lock-out/tag-out.
- Ensure accurate preparation, dilution, and handling of chemicals used in production processes, adhering to safety data sheet (SDS) guidelines.
- Carry out inter-tank transfers of chemicals and finished products in compliance with quality standards.
- Mentor and guide junior technicians, sharing best practices and supporting their technical development.
- Regularly participate in site emergency response drills and act as a key member of the plant’s emergency response team.
Requirements:
- Minimum GCE 'O' Level, NITEC, Diploma in Chemical Process Technology or related discipline
- At least 5 years of working experience as Process Technician in a chemical industry
- Willing to work shift hours
- Experience working in a chemical plant environment will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of process safety standards, including safe work practices, isolation procedures, and emergency response
- Good communication and teamwork abilities, with leadership traits to mentor junior staff.
