Sales Manager / Account Manager (Construction Sector)- Role Overview
The Sales Manager / Account Manager will be responsible for developing and managing key customer accounts within the construction sector, including contractors, developers, and project stakeholders.
This role focuses on driving sales growth, managing project-based orders, and building long-term customer relationships, while coordinating closely with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.- Key Responsibilities
- Account Management & Sales Growth
Manage and grow a portfolio of contractors, developers, and project-based customers
Identify new business opportunities and drive customer acquisition
Develop long-term relationships to secure repeat orders and project continuity
Achieve assigned sales targets and revenue growth- Project & Tender Management
Handle project enquiries, tenders, and quotations
Coordinate with internal teams for technical clarifications and product specifications
Follow through the full sales cycle from enquiry → quotation → negotiation → award
Monitor project timelines to ensure timely order fulfilment- Commercial & Negotiation
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and commercial conditions
Ensure deals meet company margin and profitability targets
Provide market feedback on pricing trends and competitor positioning- Customer Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (project managers, engineers, procurement teams)
Provide responsive support on technical queries, delivery, and service issues
Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout project lifecycle- Coordination & Execution
Work closely with operations, logistics, and QA/QC teams to ensure smooth delivery
Track order status, delivery schedules, and resolve issues proactively
Support customers during project execution to ensure satisfaction- Payment & Risk Management
Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely payment collection
Manage outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts
Assess customer creditworthiness and highlight potential risks- Market Intelligence
Monitor market trends within the construction and infrastructure sector
Track competitor activities and identify opportunities for growth
Provide feedback to management on customer needs and industry developments- Requirements & Qualifications
Diploma / Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
Minimum 3–8 years of sales / account management experience, preferably in:
Construction / building materials / piping / fittings / engineering products
Strong understanding of project-based sales and tender processes
Good knowledge of commercial terms, pricing, and negotiation- Key Competencies
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Good commercial awareness and negotiation ability
Proactive, results-driven, and customer-focused
Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams- Preferred (Added Advantage)
Experience in ductile iron / steel / piping industry
Familiarity with construction project workflows
Existing network with contractors / consultants
