The Master of Science in Applied Gerontology (MSAG) programme provides a holistic and advanced education in the rapidly expanding field of gerontology. It offers an interdisciplinary curriculum, with topics ranging across different disciplines from medicine, social sciences, communication, business, arts and humanities, biological sciences and is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge, skills, and experience to work with older people.
The incumbent will assist the Programme Director (PD) and the Assistant Director (AD) in managing various functional areas of the programme and working towards the common goal of delivering a high-quality programme to students in a timely and effective manner.
The incumbent plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the programme. He/She will take charge of programme publicity, outreach & marketing, recruitment, admission & scholarship, academic, student matters, financial matters and graduation.These tasks are critical to the success and continuity of the programme, which directly contribute to the University’s goal of increasing the intake number of postgraduate students.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Monitor market development and competition in ageing-related fields
- Develop, plan, execute marketing and outreach campaigns to attract good applicants to apply to MSAG
- Analyze past data to strategize and develop marketing strategies for MSAG
- Build up the contact list of potential partner organisations for practicum opportunities
- Work closely with various stakeholders on admission and enrolment matters, including the review of applications, shortlisting qualified applicants for interview, finalizing scholarship matters and ensuring the student data are in compliance with the university admission requirement
- Serve as liaison officer for new students and arrange for student orientation
- Address student issues and direct them to the respective officers if specialized assistance such as counselling is required
- Responsible for course planning and tabling, course registration, course curriculum matters and instructor scheduling
- Submit proposals for new courses and changes in course curriculum
- Work with instructors on mark submission, generate mark list reports for Board of Examiners’ (BOE) meeting after every trimester and handle student appeals for review of marks
- Administer Student Feedback for Teaching (SFT) for each course and review the feedback with the instructors
- Seek approval to put up graduating students for degree conferment
- Prepare yearly programme budget
- Ensure that programme budget is well kept and in good shape
Key competencies and qualifications requirements:
- Degree in any field; Business or Social Science is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
