The YST Student Life Office oversees a comprehensive range of student-centred functions spanning admissions, outreach, scholarship and financial aid, leadership, discipline, wellness, institutional partnerships and exchanges, and alumni engagement.It manages the conceptualisation and execution of admission campaigns, liaises with university offices for application processing, supports the design and delivery of outreach events and specialised workshops, and provides operational and counselling support for over 200 students during term time.
The Executive (Student Wellness & Support) is the primary student support manager for the school and is responsible for engaging students in a wide variety of wellness initiatives with a focus on inclusion and diversity, promoting mental wellness and well-being, building students' capacity for resilience and mentoring student leaders and interest groups.The individual will offer support to students in their growth throughout their time in the programme and facilitate strategies to help students develop a positive learning mindset, healthy lifestyle and engage in co-curricular activities. The role also assists in admissions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Student Support- In charge of designing and executing the YST Conservatory's Freshmen Orientation Programme.
- Provide pastoral care and counselling support to students facing problems in adjusting to university life, particularly international students in their first year.
- Provide advice to students facing emotional difficulties affecting their general well-being and academic performance.
- Provide support to students facing problems in studies as raised by YST faculty and the YST Student Life Committee.
- Closely monitor students with anxiety issues as raised by counsellors.
- Drive the engagement and outreach of wellness programmes to improve the mental well-being of students.
- Create awareness of inclusion and diversity, mental wellness, and a culture of respect and consent among students.
- Help students become more connected with ways to develop a positive mind to face challenges.
- Conduct exit interviews and assist in career counselling for graduating students.
- Staff advisor for the Student Management Committee.
- Staff advisor for all YST student interest groups.
- Assist the YST Student Life Office in administering the YST immersion programme as part of the annual admissions exercise.
- A recognized University degree.
- Self-driven, proactive, organized and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Meticulous and able to manage multiple priorities effectively and deliver work under time pressure.
- A keen interest in working in a university setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Music background required.
- Experience in counselling and student support an advantage.
- Experience in student leadership an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel).
- Proficient in at least one software in designing visual materials.
