Supplier Quality Engineer (Contract/East) - Bedok
Position Overview
This role plays a critical part in the quality development of suppliers and new products across Southeast Asia. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and highly mobile, with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Support supplier development and new product introductions (NPD) with a focus on quality assurance during all stages.
- Perform on-site inspections, reject non-compliant products, and ensure immediate corrective action by suppliers.
- Lead or participate in FAI (First Article Inspection) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for new products.
- Develop and audit new and existing suppliers’ QMS and processes in accordance with company standards.
- Serve as the key quality liaison between teams and suppliers to facilitate effective communication and project execution.
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and ensure timely resolution and preventive actions (SCAR follow-up).
- Train supplier QC staff to perform inspections according to company standards.
- Contribute to the drafting and updating of inspection specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement supplier improvement projects and track progress toward defined KPIs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in quality engineering, preferably with exposure to supplier management and manufacturing processes.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with quality systems, audits, FAI, and PPAP.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% across Southeast Asia.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
