ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Accounting Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Accounting education up to IGCSE level. The role includes planning, teaching, and assessing students in line with the Cambridge International Curriculum. The successful candidate will also ideally contribute to the wider curriculum through the ability to teach Mathematics or other Humanities subjects.

The teacher will inspire students to develop strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills while fostering a clear understanding of financial principles and real-world applications.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment
  • Plan and deliver effective Accounting lessons aligned with IGCSE curriculum requirements.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Support students in developing numeracy, analytical thinking, and financial literacy.
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments (CAIE IGCSE).
  • Maintain accurate assessment records and provide timely feedback.
  • Integrate ICT tools to enhance learning.
  • Where appropriate, contribute to the teaching of Mathematics or other Humanities subjects.
  • Promote cross-curricular learning and real-world application of Accounting concepts.
Pastoral Care and Student Development
  • Act as a home room or form tutor where required.
  • Monitor student progress and wellbeing.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold school expectations.
  • Support student engagement in wider school programmes.
Communication and Collegiality
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching and assessment.
  • Contribute to departmental planning and school initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and stakeholders.

Administrative and Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain appropriate teaching load.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education, Training, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge IGCSE Accounting syllabus.
  • Ability to teach Mathematics or another Humanities subject is desirable.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum two years’ teaching experience.
  • Experience preparing students for IGCSE examinations.
  • Experience with EAL learners is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of assessment and data tracking.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices.
