Role Overview
The Finance Manager/Senior Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of financial management and accounting operations of the Organization. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and provides strategic financial insights to support effective decision-making and organisational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting function, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records.- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements, and variance analyses.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, corporate policies, and statutory requirements.
- Develop and implement appropriate accounting policies and procedures to support reporting needs.
- Assist Corporate Director to prepare Board and Committee papers (e.g., Board, Finance Committee), including financial performance reports, budget updates and key financial indicators.
- Provide clear, concise, and insightful financial analysis to support Board-level discussions and decision-making.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic financial forecasting, ensuring alignment with the School’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide actionable insights and recommendations to management.
- Establish, review, and enhance internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks, including fraud and errors.
- Ensure compliance with governance standards and support continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Plan and coordinate the annual external audit, acting as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Address audit queries, findings, and recommendations in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of financial and tax reports to relevant authorities.
- Analyse financial data to provide insights on the School’s financial performance, cost structures, and financial position.
- Support management in decision-making through financial modelling, capital planning, and cost analysis.
- Establish, implement, and continuously enhance internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
- Identify, assess, and monitor key financial risks, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, tax obligations, and internal governance policies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support operational needs.
- Respond to queries from internal and external auditors, ensuring clarity and accuracy of information provided.
Continuous Improvement
Drive process improvements and system enhancements to strengthen financial reporting capabilities and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA) preferred.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience, with supervisory experience in a finance function.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, taxation and audit processes.
- Experience in an education or non-profit environment is an advantage.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
