About the role The Portfolio Manager is part of our collaborative Global Quality Equities team which is responsible for managing the: Cbus Global Quality Equities portfolio (GQ); Cbus Emerging Market Quality Equities portfolio (EMQ), in aggregate representing > AUD 5b (long-only) funds.
The team takes a long-term approach to investing, with a focus on identifying high quality businesses. We deem these to have superior and sustainable competitive advantages, thereby generating stable and compounding earnings, expected to generate returns above the broader market over a longer time horizon.Reporting to the Head of Global Quality Equities, your main responsibilities will involve heading up a Subject Matter Expert (SME) group, as well as contributing to stock selection decisions and portfolio construction, with a primary focus on Emerging Markets (EM) and the EMQ portfolio.
The role will require thorough bottom-up research, including detailed financial modelling and company valuations for investment opportunities being considered. It will also involve idea generation and ongoing assessment and review of existing positions, ensuring alignment with team's overall investment philosophy and targets.
To be successful you have ; Significant professional experience with a focus on long-term quality investing and portfolio management (10-15+ years buyside / 15-20+ years relevant financial markets experience). Substantial expertise in EM (including knowledge of key companies, sectors, themes, geographies and value drivers).
EM language skills are highly valued. Demonstrated portfolio construction and management experience, with proven success. Exceptional analytical and financial modelling skills, including experience in building company financial and valuation models.
