The Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI) is a research institute under Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore's leading public sector R&D agency. SIFBI focuses on advancing innovation in Biotechnology, Food and Sensory Science, and Nutrition, with a strong emphasis on translational research.The institute works closely with industry partners (FMCG and Ingredient Solutions) as well as research partners within Singapore, including Institutes of Higher Learnings such as National University of Singapore.
SIFBI is seeking a visionary Senior Principal Scientist and Division Head of Nutrition and Digestive Health (NHD). The NHD is one of 3 divisions within SIFBI and has one of the most comprehensively equipped nutrition research centre in Southeast Asia.It houses state-of-the-art equipment and facilities with a goal to understand digestive health and the impact of food and bioactives on the holistic health, longevity and disease prevention in Asian populations. This multidisciplinary division integrates expertise in nutrition science, digestive physiology, human gut microbiome, and intervention studies, working synergistically with other divisions and platforms in SIFBI, mainly Food and Sensory Science and Biotransformation & Engineering divisions.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic and organisational leadership to a division of approximately 30 members. Challenge the status quo, create an open and inclusive organisation culture to drive innovations.
- Initiate and drive scientific collaborations with industry and academic partners both locally and internationally.
- Secure external competitive research funding
- Develop and mentor a robust talent pipeline within the division
- Contribute scientific and thought leadership as a key member of SIFBI's Senior Management team and
Candidate must possess a proven track record of leadership in corporate or academic research settings, coupled with deep domain expertise in areas such as Food Science and Nutrition, Human Biology/Physiology, and Digestive Health/Microbiome etc.
Qualifications- PhD
- >15 years of experience in industry, academia, or research institutes, with significant experience in an R&D leadership role
- Demonstrated track record of publications in leading journals
- Strong communicator and influencer, with excellent verbal and written
