Engineering Maintenance Mechanical Technician-Food Manufacturing - Choa Chu Kang

Job Purpose:

To ensure the continuous and efficient operation of mechanical systems and equipment within a food manufacturing facility. This includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency while complying with health and safety, hygiene, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and reactive mechanical maintenance on production machinery (e.g., Silo conveyors, mixers, rollers, steamer, fryer / dryer lines, Steam lines & pumps).
  • Diagnose faults and repair mechanical issues on a wide range of industrial equipment and systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements to reduce breakdowns and increase reliability.
  • Collaborate with electrical technicians, production teams, and engineers to ensure minimum disruption to operations.
  • Support and participate in planned shutdowns and major overhauls.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed using the Automated Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning or replacing of new equipment.
  • Monitor spare parts usage and report any stock shortages.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing projects.
  • Train operators and junior technicians on proper machinery use and basic maintenance.

Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Minimum ITC/NTC-2/NITEC or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Maintenance above
  • Proven experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations (HACCP, BRC, etc.).
  • Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and on-call when required.
  • Open for Singaporean and Permanent Resident only to apply

Desirable:

  • Reactive and Proactive Maintenance experienced.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or multi-skilled background.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S principles.

Working Conditions:

  • Use of PPE as required.
  • Physically demanding – standing, lifting, and working in confined spaces may be necessary.
