Tradenet Supervisor
Job Role Overview:
The TradeNet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the submission, processing, and compliance of trade documentation through Singapore’s TradeNet system. This role ensures the timely and accurate declaration of import, export, and transshipment permits, in accordance with Singapore Customs regulations and the requirements of other government agencies.
A knowledge of processing Certificates of Origin (COOs) for various export markets is essential, including familiarity with both preferential and non-preferential COOs. The supervisor ensures accuracy in documentation and compliance with relevant Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) or origin criteria where applicable.
This role also involves leading a team of declaration officers, manage team rosters to ensure adequate staffing coverage for permit declaration activities, including weekends, holidays, or peak periods, while maintaining service level standards.The supervisor also works closely with internal departments and external stakeholders, handle escalations, and participate in new customer onboarding or process implementation projects to improve workflow efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations related to TradeNet permit declarations, ACES submission, reports preparation and payment collections from customers.
- Provide guidance and training to declaration staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Liaise with Customs, government agencies, and clients on permit-related issues, exceptions, or rejections.
- Monitor turnaround times for declarations to ensure service level agreements are met.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping and compliance with audit requirements.
- Stay updated with regulatory changes and implement necessary process adjustments.
- Support internal and external audits related to permit declarations and compliance.
- Generate reports and dashboards for management review.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives and system upgrades.
Requirements:
- Diploma or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related fields.
- Possess Customs Competency Test for Declarants certificate.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in permit declaration or trade compliance with a supervisory capacity.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore’s TradeNet system, Customs Act, FTA documentation, and related processes.
- Proficient in using Tradenet Front-end declaration software and MS Office.
- Familiarity with customs documentation such as COO, invoices, AWB, HS codes, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Attributes:
- Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and GST exemptions.
- Experience dealing with restricted or controlled goods permits.
- Knowledge of air cargo or sea freight operations is an advantage.
- Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
