Bedok - Java Squad Lead
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Application Development:Oversee the entire application development lifecycle from pre-project initiation, technical specifications, and development, to implementation, testing, and post-go-live support.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of application frameworks ensuring code quality, reliability, maintainability, and security.
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of developers and analysts to implement and integrate APIs and Microservices aligned with architecture and target roadmaps.
Provide hands-on guidance to the team on both functional and technical challenges.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, and coach teams to adopt Agile methodologies.
Technical Solution Delivery:
Define and manage technical solutions, collaborating closely with the enterprise architecture and software engineering functions to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Design, develop, and deploy highly available and scalable applications, including payment processing platforms, customer entitlements, and transaction workflow applications for wholesale banking.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Partner with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and provide consultation on solution and technology.
Work with vendor resources (onsite and offshore) and integration partners to ensure timely, high-quality application deliveries.
Contribute to cross-team initiatives to improve agile methods, CI/CD tools, governance, and further adoption of the Bank's System Development Methodology (SDM).
Risk & Security Management: Ensure the management of risk and security aspects within the application portfolio.
Implement measures to minimize technical debt and maintain high standards of quality in design, build, and release.Agile Transformation:
Lead and contribute to continuous improvements in agile practices and DevOps integration, driving further adoption of agile methods and tools across the team.
Key Requirements:
Experience: At least 15 years of experience in application development, with hands-on experience in the full software development lifecycle. Proven track record in delivering large-scale, highly available applications, ideally within payment processing, entitlements, or orchestration solutions.
Technical Expertise:
Strong background in service-oriented technologies and multi-tiered system architectures.5+ years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of microservices, RESTful APIs, and containers.
Deep knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Apache Camel, and Microservices frameworks.
Proficiency in frontend technologies like React, BackboneJS, and NodeJS.
Strong experience in ESB, Event-Driven, and SOA Architecture.
Expertise in DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.).
Experience in messaging and integration technologies such as IBM MQ, Kafka, REST, SOAP, WSDL.
Experience with database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL, MariaDB, NoSQL).
Cloud & Open Source: Proficiency in using open-source technologies and cloud services.Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with Transaction Banking, Cash Management, and Payments will be advantageous.
Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead teams, mentor, and empower developers and analysts in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Agile Experience: Expertise in Agile methodologies and hands-on experience implementing DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and quality.
