Senior Assistant Director (Industry)
In addition to sustaining applied R&D efforts through energy and decarbonisation-related research institutes and competitive grant calls, a new climate technology scale-up and pilot fund will be established to trial promising decarbonisation-related technologies for local deployment.
The office will be housed under A*STAR and is envisioned to play a critical role in aligning RD&D efforts with national decarbonisation strategies, translating innovation, managing major funding initiatives, and forging effective partnerships across government, academia, industry, and international experts.

Summary
We are seeking a results-oriented candidate with a demonstrated track record of leadership, client engagement and an overt bias for action, to be part of our Industry team. The individual will lead strategic industry partnerships, oversee the matching of industry interest with our RD&D efforts, and drive the development of translation pathways to deploy these technologies in Singapore's energy and industry sectors.
Job Responsibilities- Work with the Programme Director and Deputy Director (Industry) to develop and execute comprehensive industry engagement strategies to meet our objectives.
- Be part of a unit that specialises in industry engagement/development, that leads and oversees all industry-facing activities within the team.
- Build and maintain industry networks both locally and internationally to develop industry problem statements that guide the scoping of R&D projects, generate industry interest and secure co-funding for R&D and innovation projects.
- Develop an end-to-end translation and commercialisation strategy, and implement it to ensure that successful laboratory-scale R&D can be scaled up, and commercialised.
- Work closely with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) as the Sector Lead for power sector decarbonisation and power system enablers, and the Economic Development Board (EDB) as the sector lead for Industry decarbonisation, to ensure that our research and innovation are aligned with national climate commitments and energy plans.
- Degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, chemical engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in power systems, grid technologies, or energy sector technical roles, preferably with exposure to emerging technologies such as energy storage, smart grids, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) or hydrogen. Strong understanding of emerging decarbonisation technologies, their commercial applications, and deployment considerations in Singapore's context is important.
- Proven track record in account management and business development at senior levels, preferably with experience managing relationships with multinational corporations.
- Proven ability to synthesise complex technical information and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with research institutions, technology developers, or in R&D environments would be beneficial.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to work effectively across multiple agencies and with external partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare technical reports and presentations for senior leadership.
