Mechanical Engineer (Construction Site)

About the role

You will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, whilst ensuring all work complies with engineering standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on major construction projects from inception through to completion.

1. Supervise and coordinate the installation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical components on construction sites
2. Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure accurate implementation on site
3. Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to verify that mechanical work meets engineering standards and project requirements
4. Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to resolve technical issues and ensure timely project delivery
5. Maintain detailed records of mechanical installations, testing procedures, and site progress
6. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards throughout all mechanical works
7. Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and documentation for project stakeholders
8. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical defects and design conflicts that may arise during construction
9. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to coordinate mechanical systems with electrical and structural elements
10. Conduct performance testing and commissioning of mechanical systems prior to handover

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification
2. Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent qualification in Singapore or relevant jurisdiction
3. Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with substantial site-based construction experience
4. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and other building mechanical systems
5. Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and CAD software
6. Excellent understanding of Singapore's building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards
7. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with various stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences
9. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
10. Experience with project management tools and site reporting systems
11. Preferred: Experience with building information modelling (BIM) and mechanical design software
12. Preferred: Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects
