Healthcare Assistant / Care Support Associate (2 shift)
Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant / Care Support Associate to support nursing staff in delivering quality patient care within the healthcare setting i.e. Angiography Centre. You will play a vital role in ensuring patients’ comfort, safety, and well-being by assisting in daily care activities and basic clinical procedures.
- 2 Shift, Between 7am to 7pm
- 8.5hrs per shift
- 5 days work week only , including either weekends
- Patient Care Support
- Assist Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) in providing basic patient care
- Attend to patients’ daily needs, including:
- Bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting
- Assisting with mobility (lifting, positioning, transferring, ambulation, transportation)
- Support patients with elimination needs (e.g. bedpan, urinal, commode)
- Perform oral feeding for patients with modified diets and fluid consistencies
- Record and document patients’ intake and output accurately
- Clinical & Monitoring Duties
- Perform basic clinical procedures, including:
- Vital signs monitoring
- 12-lead ECG
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Monitor patients identified as fall risk
- Collect and dispatch specimens (urine, stool, sputum)
- Perform and dispatch MRSA swabs (nasal, axilla, groin)
- Observe patients’ general condition and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
- Support for Nursing Procedures
- Assist nurses and doctors during procedures, including minor surgical procedures
- Apply physical restraints and anti-embolic stockings as directed
- Perform bladder scans
- Assist in last offices
- Minimum NITEC / Higher NITEC or equivalent
- Relevant experience in a hospital or healthcare setting will be an advantage and considered for more senior appointments
- Comfortable with 2 shift work (rostered between 7am to 7pm), including weekends
- Physically fit and able to assist with patient mobility tasks
- Compassionate, patient-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
