Freight / Logistics & Trade Operations Intern
Summary:
The Freight / Logistics & Trade Operations Intern will support the logistics, trade operations, and sales teams in managing freight operations, coordinating with shipping partners, identifying cost-effective logistics solutions, and supporting commercial activities.This role offers hands-on exposure to global trade, shipping documentation, vendor management, supply chain coordination, and sales support within the paper industry.
Responsibilities:
Assist in coordinating international shipments (sea/air) with freight forwarders and shipping lines
Support in obtaining and comparing freight quotations from multiple vendors
Track shipments and ensure timely delivery, highlighting delays or issues
Maintain and update freight cost records, shipment data, and logistics reports
Assist in documentation related to exports/imports (BL, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.)
Support trade operations including LC (Letter of Credit) documentation, customs compliance, and regulatory requirements across markets
Liaise with internal teams (sales, operations) to align shipment schedules and commercial timelines
Assist the sales team with order tracking, customer communication, and preparing commercial proposals and freight cost summaries
Coordinate with the sales team to provide landed cost estimates and logistics feasibility for new business opportunities
Identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvement in logistics and trade operations
Support vendor onboarding and maintain relationships with freight partners
Assist with other logistics, trade operations, and supply chain projects as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree program in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, International Trade, or a related field
Strong analytical and coordination skills
Good communication and stakeholder management abilities
Attention to detail, especially in documentation, data tracking, and trade compliance
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
Basic understanding of trade finance instruments (LC, BG) and Incoterms is a plus
