Job Purpose

The Mandarin teacher is responsible for teaching, leading and implementing the Primary Years Programme (PYP) within the school. This role requires a passionate, dynamic, and experienced educator who will ensure the quality, compliance, and development of the PYP curriculum while fostering a collaborative and inquiry-driven learning environment.

• Teach in Mandarin the IB programe to one or more classes.
• Participate in the formation and execution of the school’s action plan.
• Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of the curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB and SSG standards.
• Establish and maintain communication and collaboration systems among staff members.

• Consistently uphold and promote the school’s vision, mission and values and promote caring, positive relationships.
• Contribute to the implementation of the relevant initiatives from the school’s Strategic Plan.
• Contribute to an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect in the School, and promote collaboration, discussion, debate and teamwork.
• Promote high professional standards and expectations, and model exemplary professional practice to the best of his/her ability.

If while carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School Principal so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third-party services.

• Monitor and uphold high-quality teaching standards within the PYP framework.
• Develop and implement a system for teacher performance appraisal.
• Identify and plan professional development opportunities for all teaching staff.
• Provide pedagogical support, mentorship, and training in curriculum matters.
• Facilitate school visits and external professional development engagements.
• Recommend and manage appropriate resources to support curriculum implementation.
• Maintain an updated inventory of curriculum-related materials and facilitate efficient resource management.
