Senior Instrument Engineer (Topside) - Choa Chu Kang
Responsibilites:
- Understand and interpret project and contract specifications.
- Define scopes of work for the topside engineering contractor.
- Collaborate with the topside engineering contractor to develop FPSO topside instrument system concepts, deliverable schedules, and activity plans aligned with the project timeline.
- Monitor engineering progress and ensure alignment with overall project schedule.
- Review equipment layouts for compliance with contract requirements, classification rules, and regulations.
- Coordinate with other disciplines for material handling, constructability, installation, operation, maintenance, and safety.
- Review topside instrumentation documents, including design philosophies, ICSS topology, I/O lists, instrument lists, cause & effect matrices, control narratives, intrinsically safe loop calculations, SIL verifications, room layouts, deck arrangements, and cable schedules.
- Ensure instrumentation designs comply with contract specifications, classifications, and applicable regulations.
- Review procurement engineering documents from the topside engineering contractor, including technical specifications, instrument data sheets, and technical bid evaluations.
- Review and comment on vendor documents.
- Participate in technical meetings, progress reviews, and 3D model reviews, addressing electrical and instrumentation interface issues.
- Participate in safety studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, and gas dispersion assessments.
- Address comments from the client, classification bodies, and third parties.
- Communicate with vendors and other disciplines to ensure changes are captured and reflected in engineering documents and 3D models.
- Continue instrumentation engineering activities after handover from the topside engineering contractor, including document updates, vendor document reviews, and support for construction and commissioning
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the offshore oil and gas industry.
- Proven expertise in Instrumentation and Control System (I&CS) design across all project phases, including Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCC.
- Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and best practices related to offshore instrumentation design.
- Familiarity with ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) requirements is highly desirable..
