Associate, Capital Markets

We are currently looking for Associates to join our global Equity and Debt Markets “EDM” practice groups in Singapore.

The EDM group is part of the firm’s global Capital Markets practice, which has a leading market position and a privileged client base comprising of most of the major investment banks whom we advise in their lead manager capacity and big-name issuer clients.

We act for both issuers and managers on Capital Markets transactions which is a huge strength of ours, as Associates see both sides of a transaction. In addition, we also have a trustee department advising trustees on debt deals, as well as an established liability management practice.

Recognised as a market leader within the international capital markets space, our team has considerable experience advising on some of the highest-profile capital markets deals across Asia in both debt and equity. The EDM practice offers expert advice on a full range of debt and equity capital markets transactions, ranging from corporate, high yield and sovereign bonds to securitisations, derivatives and structured products. It operates as an integrated part of an international equity-debt capital markets and structured finance team that is divided into several sub-teams that broadly cover the following areas:

  • Straight debt
  • High-yield
  • Securitizations

Reporting to the Partners, you will gain unparalleled international experience in structuring and executing the largest, most innovative and complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review documentation, demonstrate familiarity with precedents and market standards
  • Provide commercial and legal advice to the client
  • Network with clients to capitalize on new business opportunities
  • Taking initial instructions internally or externally, delegating where appropriate
  • Research, due diligence and information management
  • Demonstrating thorough market knowledge to identify current trends and concerns in relevant industry sectors.
  • Able to present ideas to the client to resolve current market issues and anticipate potential problems
  • Contributing to quality know-how and transaction bibles and their upkeep
  • Regularly giving and seeking clear performance feedback to/from others

Key Requirements:

  • Associates qualified in Singapore, Hong Kong, India or USA
  • Experience with a good mix of capital markets work is preferred
  • Familiarity with debt and high-yield covenants is desirable
  • Experience within a top tier firm would be advantageous
  • Strong networking and organizational skill, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate assertively when under pressure
  • Ability to influence using appropriate techniques
  • Innovative and practical, proactive
  • Commercially minded and a team player who motivates others
  • Able to maintain a polite and professional demeanour when dealing with clients
