Operational Risk Manager (APAC) - Securities/Brokerages

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as the primary point of contact for Operational Risk in the APAC region.
• Facilitate risk and control assessments, identify risks, and implement controls to mitigate exposure.
• Conduct root cause analysis of operational incidents and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead risk governance forums, ensuring effective oversight and risk trend identification.
• Prepare and present risk reports and metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
• Foster a risk-aware culture, providing expertise on operational risk initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with business areas to create and maintain accurate Risk Registers.
• Monitor and report on operational losses and risk events, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
• Manage Broker Losses to drive down risk exposure.
• Contribute to the development of the Operational Risk Framework and local training programs.
• Support the evaluation of new proposals and change initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 6+ years of operational risk management or related experience, preferably in investment management.
• Experience in L1 experience - risk assessments, including both top-down and bottom-up approaches, within the trading space / dealing room.
• Knowledge of risk methodologies (Basel, COSO, ERM) and control self-assessment tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and at all levels.
• Proven ability to analyze complex data, identify risks, and propose effective solutions.
• Experience in governance, risk, compliance, or internal control roles in financial services.
• Solid understanding of risk and control knowledge.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and manage multiple projects.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with GRC and Power BI is desirable.
• Self-starter, proactive, and passionate about driving cultural change.
