The Role
We are hiring an Analytical Chemist to lead the analytical profiling of flavor systems using GCMS and complementary techniques. You'll support R&D and product development through competitive benchmarking, reformulation projects for cost optimization, quality standardization, and technical problem-solving for clients.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain GCMS (and HPLC where applicable) for volatile and non-volatile compound analysis
- Develop and validate analytical methods for complex flavor matrices
- Identify and quantify key flavor compounds using spectral libraries and retention indices
- Provide analytical insights to guide reformulation and product development decisions
- Conduct competitive product analysis to support innovation and commercial strategy
- Partner with flavorists and the R&D team to translate analytical data into actionable recommendations
- Maintain instrument qualification, calibration, and quality control protocols
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal teams and clients
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on GCMS operation experience (Agilent, Thermo, Shimadzu, or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of chromatography principles and mass spectrometry
- Experience with NIST/Wiley spectral libraries and compound identification
- Knowledge of flavor chemistry and aroma compounds
- Ability to interpret complex chromatograms and spectral data
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal — able to present technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in the flavors and fragrances industry, food manufacturing, or a related sector is an advantage
- Familiarity with sensory-analytical correlation, HPLC, GC-O (olfactometry), or other complementary analytical techniques is an advantage
