Job Opportunity: Legal Associate (General Practice)
We are seeking a versatile, driven, and empathetic Legal Associate to join our growing team. This role is designed for a "legal athlete"—someone who enjoys the variety of a general practice and is comfortable pivoting between different areas of the law to meet our clients' diverse needs.
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in Criminal, Family, and Civil litigation and is looking to sharpen their advocacy and advisory skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Criminal Law: Handle mentions, mitigation pleas, and assist in trial preparation for various offenses. Conduct legal research and draft representations to the Prosecution.
Family Law: Manage matrimonial proceedings including contested/uncontested, PPO applications, and matters involving custody, care, and control.
Civil Litigation: Draft pleadings, affidavits, and interlocutory applications. Represent clients in mediation and assist in high-stakes civil disputes from commencement to enforcement.
Client Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear legal advice while managing expectations with professional empathy.
Drafting & Advocacy: Prepare comprehensive legal opinions, contracts, and court documents. Appear before the Courts for chamber matters and mentions.
Requirements
Experience: At least 1 year of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) in a relevant legal environment.Versatility: A demonstrated interest or background in handling a mix of Criminal, Family, and Civil files.
Communication: Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills. You should be able to explain complex legal jargon in plain English to clients.
Resilience: The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple deadlines across different practice areas.
Integrity: A high standard of professional ethics and a genuine commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.
