The National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), in collaboration with the National Dental Research Institute Singapore (NDRIS) and Duke-NUS Medical School, is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow with expertise in cellular and molecular biology, regenerative medicine, and biological assay development.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team focused on advancing biomaterial-based strategies for tissue repair and regeneration. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to preclinical research with strong translational potential in oral health and craniofacial applications.

Job Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for
  • Developing and performing a wide range of in vitro biological assays to evaluate the regenerative potential of bioengineered scaffolds
  • Working with primary and immortalized human cell lines
  • Performing high-content imaging, gene and protein expression analysis
  • Contributing to tissue characterization using histological, immunofluorescent, and molecular approaches.
  • Experience in handling animal tissue samples or conducting in vivo studies under IACUC-approved protocols will be considered advantageous.
  • Work closely with materials scientists, clinicians, and industry partners to ensure biologically relevant outcomes are aligned with translational goals.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience with stem cells, epithelial biology, or wound healing models, as well as strong familiarity with cellular imaging, quantitative analysis, and assay optimization is essential.
  • Self-driven team player with excellent organizational skills and a strong track record of scientific publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute biological experiments independently, including data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Solid record of scientific publications, with at least one first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Experience collaborating with materials scientists and clinicians to integrate biological insights into translational workflows.
  • Prior involvement in training junior lab members or coordinating lab logistics is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate findings effectively, contribute to manuscript writing, and support regulatory documentation where relevant.
