Orthotic Lab Technician - Toa Payoh
My FootDr Singapore is currently recruiting an Orthotic Lab Technician to join our growing team. An orthotic technician is involved in the fabrication of devices known as orthotics (custom made insoles). Under the guidance of and in consultation with podiatric practitioners, the technician fabricates orthoses according to the podiatric practitioner’s prescription, as well as from patient casts and measurements.The successful candidate will have an eye for attention to detail to provide maximum fit, function, cosmesis and workmanship. The orthotic technician is also responsible for performing shoe modifications and the repair and maintenance of orthoses.
The orthotic lab technician helps maintain 3D CAD/CAM machinery used in the manufacturing and making of orthotics.
Training will be hands-on and you will receive instruction, education and training in all areas that relate to the fabrication processes such as anatomy, foot and lower limb pathology, terminology, measurement forms, system alignment, components, materials, repair and maintenance procedures.
Salary: A salary ranging from $1800 to $3000 SGD per month will be paid depending on experience levels and education.Duration: Full time. Monday to Friday (830am to 5.30pm) and every second Saturday 830am to 1pm.
Contract: minimum 3 years of service required. Once proficient, travel opportunities will be possible to locations outside of Singapore.
Responsibilities- Work responsibly in the use of several machines, tools and equipment (for example: grinding machines, hand tools, milling equipment and band saws) to produce the custom orthoses.
- Fabricate, alter, repair, and maintain orthotics based on medical specifications from podiatric practitioners in a timely manner
- Ensure the best possible fit, function, and cosmetics of products
- Perform daily lab housekeeping including scrapping of products and routine equipment maintenance
Work Experience
Previous experience in the use of hand and power tools such as sanders, grinders, buffing and finishing tools, hand drills, heat source tools, sewing machines, blades or any specific implement used with a power tool.
Knowledge in material preparation, material heating procedures, lay up procedures, vacuum formed processes and of various uses of modern high tech materials and procedure.
Knowledge of and previous practice in using prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
