Job Purpose
The incumbent provides mentoring to clients aged 10 to 24 across various settings. Responsibilities include conducting outreach, assessments, planning interventions, and facilitating engagement activities. The role also involves advocating for youth-related issues within the community and building networks with key stakeholders.Additionally, the incumbent supports clients in their personal, social, and educational development to help them achieve their full potential in society.
ResponsibilitiesA. FUNCTIONAL
Conduct youth work which includes the following:
- Plan and conduct activities including regular street outreach and community outreach work that may involve working out of the physical environment of the office.
- Develop YR programmes such as Youth Development Programmes (YDP), and other programmes as required Engage, mentor and counsel ‘at-risk’ youths and youth groups.
- Establish rapport for future intervention.
- Facilitate group work/workshop intervention and ensure regular contact with youths.
- Maintain and document records of all outreach activities and case sessions.
- Conduct evaluation for all outreach activities/ programmes planned and implemented.
Conduct case management for identified cases which include the following:
- Spot potential client in crisis or in distress.
- Identify presenting issues.
- Carry out basic intervention plan to manage identified issues.
- Inform supervisor on crisis or unusual incidents.
- Liaise and work with other professionals and client’s system including family and school counselor to ensure holistic and effective intervention.
- Maintain and document records of all case sessions.
- You are required to be flexible in your working hours, according to the needs of the programmes and clients.
- All direct service personnel are required to support/ conduct research when called upon for their respective functions.
- Meet regularly with the Centre Manager to assess case/ programme progress, intervention effectiveness and programme outcomes and evaluations.
- To participate actively in all fundraising activities as well as any other commitments that Boys’ Town undertakes.
- To work in close collaboration with other staff, departments and components of Boys’ Town.
- The Executive Director and or his/her representative may assign you any other duties that are within reason for the operation needs of Boys’ Town.

- Minimum Diploma in Social Sciences or related discipline with at least 2 years of working experience or Degree in any related discipline.

- Demonstrates professionalism and genuine passion to work with children and youths.
- Added advantage if candidate has prior experience mentoring or counselling youths.
- Added advantage if candidate has experience in programme design and facilitation & social media content creation.
