Design Engineer

Main Responsibility

To provide safe, economical and workable design for proposal or working drawings to support sales generation of the company, under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.

Reports to the Design Engineering Manager.

• Prepares safe, economical and workable design for proposal or working drawings as requested by the Sales Team, per allowed IDPM (Individual Design Permission Matrix).
• Assists the Singapore Sales Manager on client meetings, tendering and pricing of jobs and other operational admin works as needed.
• Coordinate job flow for order jobs and other design submittals to client through Job Book.
• Thorough, consistent and accurate with attention to detail. Diligent and conscientious.
• Be self-managed, working unsupervised or minimal supervision but know limitations and ask for guidance when required.

• Adheres to the Company’s existing Health, Safety and Security standards by ensuring compliance with / support to the Company’s Health, Safety & Security Protocols.
• Carries out work in accordance with Altrad RMDK ISO and Quality Assurance Procedures.

• Handles design of routine complexity projects, and coordinates or delegate to Engineering Manager for high risk or complicated inquiries.
• Prepares formal calculations for the working drawings prepared.
• Assists other Design Engineers in preparing designs and calculations when required by Engineering Manager.
• Prepares accurate materials take off from the working drawings made.
• Collaborates with Engineering Manager and other team members regarding design innovations and calculations that is unique or specific in Singapore.

• Familiarizes himself with Altrad RMDK Hongkong and Singapore available equipment and their technical properties.
• Familiarizes with Singapore local code of practice for temporary works.

• Assists the Singapore Sales Team with technical presentations with clients whenever requested under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.

• Engineering Manager for the approval and verification of design.
• Design Engineers for coordination, training and/or coaching.
• Sales Engineers for inquiry, clarification and client coordination meetings.
• Yard Manager / Supervisor for equipment availability and/or substitution.
