Role Purpose
The Sustainability Officer supports the coordination, tracking, reporting, and communication of Bishan–Toa Payoh Town Council’s sustainability initiatives under the BTPTC Green Town Masterplan, aligned with HDB’s four sustainability pillars:
- Reducing Energy Consumption
- Cooling HDB Towns
- Promoting Green Commute
- Optimising Resources
This role part of a small sustainability team and requires a motivated team player who can work and coordinate across agencies, internal departments, and vendors to support programme delivery and reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Sustainability Programme Coordination
- Support the coordination and implementation of Town Council sustainability initiatives across the estate.
- Work with internal departments (Property Divisions, Planning & Contracts, Corporate Communications) and external agencies/vendors (e.g. HDB, NParks, NEA, LTA) to track progress.
- Assist in basic project management, including:
- Tracking timelines and milestones
- Coordinating meetings and site follow‑ups
- Supporting outreach-related logistics for sustainability initiatives
- Operate as a supporting team member in a small sustainability office, contributing to day‑to‑day planning and execution.
- Utilities Data Collection, Management & Reporting
- Collect, consolidate, and maintain utilities and sustainability‑related data from multiple sources, including:
- Energy consumption and solar generation data
- Water usage data
- Recycling and waste data
- Maintain organised datasets and tracking records for sustainability monitoring.
- Assist the Manager‑in‑Charge in preparing:
- Monthly sustainability updates to Management
- Yearly sustainability updates and summary reports for MPs
- Support the preparation of charts, tables, and summaries for internal presentations and reports.
- Sustainability Dashboard Support
- Support the creation and maintenance of the BTPTC Sustainability Dashboard (online and/or physical).
- Ensure timely and accurate data updates in coordination with agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in making dashboard content clear, concise, and resident‑friendly.
- Communications, Outreach & Engagement
- Work with the Strategic Communications Department on:
- Internal communications on sustainability progress
- External communications to residents on initiatives and milestones
- Provide content inputs and coordination support for:
- Sustainability exhibitions, roadshows, and outreach events
- Publicity materials (e.g. posters, infographics, digital display content)
- Support consistent sustainability messaging centred on shared responsibility and community participation.
- Administration & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain proper records and documentation of sustainability initiatives, data, and reports.
- Assist in identifying practical improvements to sustainability tracking, reporting, or engagement efforts.
- Perform other sustainability‑related duties as assigned by the Manager‑in‑Charge.
- Diploma or Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Facilities Management, Communications, or other related disciplines
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in:
- Project coordination or support roles
- Sustainability, environmental, facilities, or built‑environment related work
- Data tracking and reporting
- Outreach, engagement, or communications support
- Ability to prepare clear, simple reports and summaries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Team player who works well across departments
- Highly motivated and reliable
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a lean team environment
- Interest in sustainability, environmental responsibility, and community initiatives
- Detail‑oriented and organised
- Practical, adaptable, and solutions‑focused
