Job Description

The Department of Psychology, National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for the position of temporary research assistant to serve as study coordinator for a variety of projects being conducted at the Clinical Translational Science Laboratory at NUS.

The successful applicant is expected to commence duties at NUS from July 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. There is a possibility of transitioning to longer-term roles if grant funding is obtained.

The projects are under the direction of Principal Investigator Assistant Professor Kean J. HSU (Department of Psychology).

Scope and responsibilities

The research assistant will provide support to the PI (Asst. Prof. Kean J. HSU) and other project team members on overall research administration for the projects, including coordination of research staff and trainees based on a lab schedule, training and supervising new volunteer research assistants, screening, recruitment, scheduling, and retention of research participants, following up with participants regarding follow-up study visits or online assessments, tracking of overall research project progress, as well as running participants through in-lab study protocols.

They will also be responsible for supporting IRB protocol modifications and compliance, managing data (including basic data analysis), and managing telegram project channel and project website. Based on their performance and skills demonstrated in this role, study coordinators may be invited to assist with manuscripts and earn co-authorship credit for their work.

This position is ideal for individuals interested in graduate school for clinical psychology (whether local MA or international PhD).

NECESSARY:

  • Familiarity and interest in clinical psychology, behavioral medicine, or health science
  • Detail oriented

  • Able to problem solve and think critically when confronted with challenges or uncertainty
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with technology and productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office or equivalent)
  • Driven/persistent

DESIRABLE (but not required for application):

  • Prior volunteer/work experience in a research lab setting
  • Interest in handling data analysis code (e.g., R)
  • Prior experience working with individuals with mental health challenges
