The Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment on construction sites. This includes ensuring that all workers comply with safety regulations, conducting safety audits, and implementing risk assessments to minimize hazards and accidents on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits on the construction site to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training to workers and subcontractors.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare and maintain safety records and documentation, including safety reports and incident logs.
  • Ensure that safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided, properly used, and maintained.
  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure that workers are following safe practices and procedures.
  • Develop and enforce emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, such as OSHA or local safety agencies, to ensure compliance with safety laws.
  • Advise project managers and site supervisors on safety matters and assist in the preparation of risk assessments.
  • Ensure proper reporting of safety statistics and assist in the preparation of safety audits.

Key Qualifications:

  • WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health (Level C).
  • Register as a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in Singapore
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer in the construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations and industry safety standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with workers and management.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health and safety certification.
  • Construction Safety and Risk Management courses.
  • Experience in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Certification in Fire Safety or Confined Space Safety.
