We are looking for a Research Fellow to assist the PI in conducting research specified in a sponsored project. The role will focus on additive manufacturing of metallic components and conduct detailed microstructural and mechanical property studies on the printed parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- AM of metallic components
- Microstructural characterization
- Tensile property characterization
- Fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth characterization
- Write scientific reports and publications
- Mentor MSc and FYP students
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in Materials Science & Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- At least 2 years of relevant post-PhD hands-on experience in advanced alloys and their microstructural and mechanical property characterization. Proficiency in unnotched fatigue, fracture toughness, and fatigue crack growth property measurements. Familiarity with Ti and other advanced alloys, experimental characterization of fracture and fatigue and other mechanical properties. Must be highly competent in microstructural characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, EBSD, nanoindentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in high level research through a good scientific publication record, especially in standard journals of the research area. At least one or more papers in Acta Materialia as the first author is a must.
- Good written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated record of outstanding scientific publication record
- Interpersonal skill (e.g. Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills). Ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels and to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Possesses international experience, with a strong network of contacts in the region.
