A*STAR is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to head its AI Office. As the Lead, you will play a central role in driving A*STAR's AI research excellence by orchestrating research efforts and developing programmes that propel AI innovations forward.
About the Role
As Deputy Director / Lead of AI Office, you will be responsible for:
- Spearheading the development and execution of an AI research strategy in A*STAR. This includes identifying key research areas, fostering collaboration between research institutions, and ensuring alignment with Singapore's goals in National AI Strategy 2.0.
- Coordinating an active network of AI researchers across A*STAR's research institutes and steering them to achieve the strategic objectives of the organisation.
- Developing and overseeing a comprehensive portfolio of research initiatives in AI, fostering cutting-edge research, promoting them to external stakeholders, and facilitating knowledge exchange.
- Cultivating a vibrant research ecosystem by organising workshops and networking events, and promoting research collaborations.
- Providing strategic guidance and leadership to the AI office team in achieving its objectives.
- A proven track record in leading and managing complex research programmes in AI and data science
- Extensive experience in tech (preferably at least 10 years), particularly in AI research or engineering, with a deep understanding of current research trends and future directions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across diverse internal and external stakeholders
- A strategic mindset with the ability to develop and implement a long-term vision for AI research
- Experience in technology strategy development or programme management roles in the public service or research organisations would be a plus point
