Software Developer
We are seeking a mid-level Software Developer to support both greenfield and brownfield projects for road tunnels and highways. This role focuses on on backend development in self-contained system architecture and working closely within cross functional team to integrate and test both new and legacy system interfaces.The position is highly technical and hands-on, involving on-site commissioning in Singapore’s highway and tunnel infrastructure.
What are my responsibilities?- Collaborate with cross-functional team to create and refine software designs, ensuring that they meet project requirements
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and company coding standards.
- Develop and troubleshoot interfaces with legacy systems, including occasional reverse-engineering of existing protocols.
- Assist in the development and implementation of algorithms and procedures to optimize the operation of road networks within large urban areas.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development process by actively participating in code reviews, providing and incorporating constructive feedback, and staying up to date with industry trends.
- Support the testing and validation of software components, including unit testing, integration testing, and working with simulation test environments or real hardware.
- Proactively communicate with team members, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tasks and a clear understanding of project requirements and objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python or other modern languages for developing web applications, REST APIs.
- Practical experience with Docker for local development and testing.
- Basic familiarity with Kafka or similar messaging systems; Kubernetes experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Basic understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including experience with GitLab or similar version control systems.
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies,
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about road tunnel and highway management systems and the specific requirements associated with their development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
- Reasonable written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, which can be beneficial in developing and troubleshooting and reverse engineering during interface development.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, programming languages, and frameworks quickly, adapting to the evolving needs of the software development process.
- Reasonable time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- You will be a part of a geographically distributed team.
- Occasional on-site presence required for interface verification and commissioning activities, including nighttime deployments.
