Healthcare Assistant

About the role

As a Healthcare Assistant at Moral Welfare Home, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to the residents in our aged care facility. This full-time position is located in the Bukit Merah Central Region, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our elderly community.

• The Healthcare Assistant is responsible for supervising and helping residents follow a proper hand washing routine before meals.
• They are required to bathe frail and weak residents in the hot water shower room and supervise the daily bathing of all residents.
• The role also involves removing soiled clothes to the laundry for washing and collecting clean clothes from the Linen Room.
• The assistant must ensure that residents are properly dressed and clean at all times, and provide support to non-ambulant and semi-ambulant residents with their toilet and personal hygiene needs.
• They are also responsible for ensuring residents receive regular haircuts, shaves, and nail trimming to keep them neat and well-groomed.

• The Healthcare Assistant is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of the Home.
• This includes cleaning up the dining halls and dormitories after every meal, cleaning utensils, and washing, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting the dormitories.
• Toilets must be checked at regular intervals to ensure they remain clean and in good condition.
• Beds and bed boards are to be wiped daily with antiseptic, and bed pans must be cleaned and sunned after every use.
• Bedside tables should be cleaned at regular intervals, and bed boards and bed frames must be sprayed with insecticide and debugged periodically.
• Daily high-pressure area cleaning is required, as well as grass cutting and watering of plants.
• The assistant is responsible for collecting rubbish in plastic bags for disposal at the Bin Centre for daily collection by the Public Waste Collector appointed by the National Environment Agency.
• All working tools must be properly stored after use and kept out of reach of residents. T
• he assistant helps maintain a clean, safe, and neat environment for all residents.

• The Healthcare Assistant must refer any residents' medical concerns to the Nursing Staff on duty, or to the Operations Executive on duty in their absence.
• They are required to escort residents to hospitals or clinics for appointments and distribute drinking water to non-ambulant and semi-ambulant residents.
• The assistant ensures that residents receive their meals at designated areas and patrols the dormitories at regular intervals to attend to residents' needs.
• In the event of a resident's death, the assistant must immediately inform the Welfare Officer on duty and screen off the deceased resident until the ambulance and police arrive.
• They may also be required to identify the deceased resident's body at the mortuary when necessary.
• The Healthcare Assistant is also expected to carry out any other duties as directed by the Superintendent or any other duly authorised officer.
