Associate, International Arbitration
Herbert Smith Freehills is recruiting a junior Associate to join our market-leading international arbitration team in Singapore.

Our team in Singapore works on an integrated basis with arbitration lawyers across other firm's global offices, and together with our teams in Bangkok and Jakarta, we are widely recognised as the Southeast Asia region's pre-eminent specialist for complex international disputes.
You will work as a core member of the team, focussing on high-value cross-border disputes and arbitrations. The team is international, multilingual, high-performing and also friendly, including lawyers who are admitted to practice in a variety of jurisdictions including England, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia and the BVI.Our clients include global and regional investors, multi-national corporations, governments and state-owned entities, whose cases arise in major sectors including international trade and investment, energy, construction, technology, finance, and shareholder, JV and M&A disputes.
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Have a sense of humour and readiness to work collaboratively in a friendly but high-performing team;
- Have an excellent academic record;
- Hold a qualification to practice in England & Wales;
- Have at least two years of experience working in a private practice environment (eg as a trainee at an English law firm, or equivalent experience), preferably from a top tier international law firm – this is a role for a newly / recently qualified English lawyer;
- Have exceptional communication and time management skills;
- Be self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and the enthusiasm to challenge yourself;
- Ideally, have multi-lingual skills – although this will be an advantage but is not a requirement;
