Job Summary:
The role of a Butcher is to be responsible for preparing meat and selling meat to consumers in a retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cutting, trimming, grinding and deboning meats according to customers’ orders
- Roasting meat, preparing hot deli, bento set, weighing, packaging and pricing the meat
- Maintaining safe, clean work areas by cleaning surfaces, equipment, food trays, floors, removing rubbish etc.
- Displaying safe, quality meat products and delicatessens for consumers’ selection. Ensure that all meat products meet quality standards for freshness that comply with Company standards
- Assisting customers with their meat selections, making recommendations, providing advice on various cuts, cooking methods to upsell the meat products
- Monitoring inventory levels of meat products and replenish them promptly
- Handling meat products by complying with food safety and sanitation procedures and regulations established by Company and government agency
- Working as a team, co-operate with retail assistants to ensure a smooth operation at the counter and to achieve customer satisfaction
Requirements:
- GCE ‘O’ Level certificate or NITEC in Culinary Arts
- Min 1 year experience as a meat cutter or butcher; proficient in meat cutting techniques and knowledge of meat cuts
- Good knife skills and familiar with meat cutting tools and equipment
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
- Attended Basic Food Hygiene Handler Course, good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Good team player, punctual at work and can take instructions from superior
- Able to work on rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- 6-day workweek; rest days on weekdays. Work hours: AM Shift: 7.00 am to 3.00pm, PM Shift: 2.00 pm to 10.00 pm (Monday to Sunday including public holidays)
- Able to stand for extended periods in a retail air-conditioned environment
