JOB DESCRIPTION

Head of Broking is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s day-to-day business development strategy in accordance with the business objectives and strategies approved by the Executive Management and managing a team of brokers on a day-to-day basis, The Head of Broking role will report to ;
  • Chief Executive Officer - day to day operational affairs

As to other Broking positions other than Head of Broking, reporting line will be aligned accordingly depending on experience and seniority.

RESPONSIBILITIES ;
  1. Develop strategic business partnerships with cedants, reinsurers and producing brokers in the SEA region (and beyond). Thorough understanding of the SEA and Northeast Asia Markets
  2. Design reinsurance placement programmes for clients’ needs, placing business with client-approved reinsurers to meet financial and operational key performance indicators
  3. Prepare submissions, obtain quotations and represent them to partners in the reinsurance market place
  4. Liaise with Clients and reinsurance markets for day-to-day account inquiries
  5. Manage a team of Brokers for the position of Head of Broking
  6. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurers’ capabilities (product lines, capacity, appetite, approvals and soft-issues)
  7. New Business development and renewal retention ; develop and participate in new/ renewal/ prospective presentations to clients and/ or reinsurers. Also to produce new clients and design programmes for them, establish relationship through meetings, exhibits professional skills, network and entertain in order to generate revenue
  8. Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual financial targets including Financial reporting
  9. Liaise with the applicable Business Units/ Departments in Home Office to ensure the proper level of client service and timely flow of business process
  10. Participate in markets visits and business conferences
  11. Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly
  12. Follow the Company’s procedures and compliance requirements, to ensure placement documentations are complete, eliminating any potential errors or omissions
  13. Establish and maintain strong relationship with reinsurers, clients and colleagues

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Bachelors Degree is required

Experience : five (5) to (10) years related (re)insurance experience with the ability to deal with complex facultative, treaty and/ or retrocession placement but minimum of ten (10) years for the position of Head of Broking.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS (GENERAL & TECHNICAL).
  1. Thorough knowledge of (re)insurance concepts and terms/ conditions for developing and placing reinsurance programs, preparing placement slips including cover notes and drafting or amending new and existing contracts.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good client, reinsurer and internal relationships
  3. Strong ability to prioritize workload according to volume and urgency
  4. Strong ability to find creative solutions to new problems, as they arise
  5. Strong ability to organize and attention to details
  6. Good understanding of computer skills, MS Office (Excel, Words, PowerPoint)
  7. Strong ability to maintain and adhere to regulatory compliance and relevant professional standards where applicable, as well as Company-wide quality initiatives. Must be able to address clients’ needs by accessing and organizing resources.
  8. Strong ability to manage clients and help them address issues proactively
  9. Strong ability to understand clients’ business industry
  10. Effective collaboration as part of a team to support clients’ needs
  11. Strong ability to handle significant workflow through efficient time management
  12. Strong ability to challenge appropriately – support case with facts and information
  13. Strong ability to seek ways to streamline and improve current processes
  14. Assist in and play a role in client presentations if necessary
