The Job:

The Engineer (Telecommunications) is responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and future-ready telecommunication services that support SGH’s organizational needs. This role manages and optimises enterprise PABX systems, IP telephony infrastructure, and call centre platforms to ensure high availability, scalability, and service excellence.

The incumbent will also support telecommunication infrastructure planning for new developments, and drive innovation through AI-enabled call centre capabilities. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the engineer will provide technical advisory and ensure alignment with organisational strategy, cybersecurity standards, and emerging technologies.

Your job roles will include but not be limited to the following:

Manage vendor(s) to maintain and troubleshoot PABX and IP telephony systems, ensuring high availability and scalability
Support call centre platforms, including implementation of AI-driven features
Monitor system performance and coordinate with vendor(s) on upgrades, patching, and failover activities
Ensure integration with network and firewall infrastructure, adhering to VoIP and security best practices
Support coordination with telecom providers on mobile network coverage matters
Provide technical input for new developments, ensuring scalable and future-ready designs
Act as SME for telephony systems, advising stakeholders and evaluating vendor solutions
Collaborate with stakeholders including IT and vendors, to ensure smooth operations and compliance
Support documentation, incident management, and budgeting activities

Job Requirements:

Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field
Relevant certifications (e.g., Avaya, Cisco, NEC) are advantageous
Knowledge of IP telephony and VoIP (SIP, H.323), including basic network and firewall integration
Experience with call centre platforms and telecom infrastructure planning
Knowledge of AI-driven call centre tools is an advantage
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good communication and coordination skills to work with vendors and stakeholders
Proactive and adaptable with interest in emerging technologies
