Senior Data Engineer / AWS Migration Lead _ Contract_Public Sector Project

Our client is a Singapore Government ministry responsible for driving national development and digital transformation initiatives. The project involves migrating existing data infrastructure and dashboards to the AWS Data Analytics Platform (DAP) to enable data-driven decision-making across departments.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / AWS Migration Lead to lead the migration of on-premises and SharePoint-based data systems to AWS DAP.

The role requires strong technical leadership in cloud migration, data engineering, and dashboard modernization—ensuring smooth transition with zero disruption to existing operations.

1. Migration & Technical Implementation

• Lead end-to-end migration of data systems to AWS DAP.
• Collaborate with AWS and internal teams to design migration strategies and execution plans.
• Re-engineer existing Python scripts and UiPath workflows for AWS SageMaker or AWS Glue.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines using AWS serverless services.
• Migrate Tableau dashboards to AWS QuickSight with full feature parity.
• Integrate multiple data sources (HRPS, Gateway, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, FormSG, MS Access).
• Ensure continuity and minimal downtime during transition.

1. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Produce comprehensive documentation of AWS workflows and processes.
• Develop training materials and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions for end-users.
• Support business users in accessing and interpreting dashboards in the new AWS environment.
• Perform validation, testing, and sign-off post-migration.

1. AWS Services

• Hands-on experience with AWS SageMaker, QuickSight, Athena, Glue, Lambda.
• Strong in AWS CLI and Python SDK usage.
• Skilled in designing serverless architectures and event-driven data workflows.

1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Experience with CloudFormation, YAML, or JSON templates.
• Ability to provision and manage AWS resources through IaC.
• Familiar with integrating serverless and hybrid infrastructures.

1. Programming & Automation

• Proficiency in Python and UiPath automation.
• Experience creating Lambda functions for data processing and automation.
• Understanding of event-driven and serverless computing concepts.

1. Data Visualisation & Analytics

• Expertise in Tableau and QuickSight dashboards.
• Strong ETL pipeline and analytics design experience.
• Familiar with serverless data-processing workflows.

1. DevOps & Collaboration

• Experience with DevOps tools (Ship-hats, GitLab, Nexus Repo).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure code.
• Understanding of change management, security groups, and network ACLs.

1. Soft Skills

• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to deliver training and lead technical discussions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering.
• 6–10 years of experience in data engineering and AWS cloud migration.
• AWS certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect, Data Analytics Specialty) are advantageous.
