The NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is a premier institution that actively builds peaks of excellence through the promotion of ground-breaking, high-impact research in innovative areas of relevance to Singapore and the Asia-Pacific.
Applications are invited to apply for a full-time position as Research Assistant (RA) at the FASS Research Division. The appointment will be tenable for a period of 1 year in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal.
The RA will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of research-related events such as workshops, seminars, and conferences, while also providing research support, administrative, and communications assistance to the Research Division as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Events Planning and Management- Coordinate end-to-end delivery of Research Division events, including timelines, logistics, and on-site support
- Liaise with faculty members, speakers, and other stakeholders to confirm programme details and event requirements
- Assist with publicity and communications for events, including event listings, invitation emails, brief write-ups, and post-event updates
- Manage event logistics: venue booking, catering, AV/IT coordination, security/access (where applicable), materials printing, signage, room setup, etc.
- Manage participant registration and communications, including attendee lists, confirmations, reminders, and post-event follow-ups.
- Support updates to the Research Division's website and related online channels, particularly for event announcements and research highlights
- Assist with basic content creation where needed (e.g. simple visuals, short video clips, or social media posts)
- Support event budgeting and financial tracking: obtain quotations, track expenditure, and assist with claims/invoice processing in accordance with University guidelines
- Assist Faculty Members with Research Cluster activities and budget
- Provide research and administrative support for other Research Division activities, including Singapore Research Nexus (SRN) matters, grant-related research communications
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned
- An Honours or Master's degree in a humanities or social sciences discipline
- Research interests in humanities or social sciences
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Competency with Microsoft Office programmes and internet management tools
- Experience in managing budgets is an advantage
- Experience with the use of social media, blogging and in online content creation (videos etc) will be an added advantage.
