Job Description

Role overview

We are seeking a proactive, organised and relationship-oriented professional to play a key role in managing and enhancing the Law School's internship and broader career development programmes.

This is a substantive role combining programme strategy, stakeholder engagement, systems management and hands-on operational delivery. The successful candidate will oversee the mandatory legal internship programme, contribute to wider career initiatives, supervise a junior team member, and work closely with students, employers, faculty and senior colleagues to strengthen students' professional development outcomes.

The role requires someone who is comfortable balancing detail-oriented administration with strategic thinking and external engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Internship Programme Management & Strategy
  • Oversee the administration and continuous enhancement of the mandatory legal internship programme, ensuring alignment with university graduation requirements and institutional objectives.
  • Manage internship documentation, agreements, placements and compliance records, maintaining accurate and well-organised systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty and employers on internship programme matters, providing timely and professional guidance.
  • Design and deliver student briefings on internship applications, processes and workplace expectations.
  • Identify, review and improve internship workflows, documentation and digital systems to enhance efficiency, scalability and compliance.
  • Collect and analyse student, employer and faculty feedback, and use data insights to inform programme improvements and long-term development.
  • Prepare reports for management and academic stakeholders to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Supervise and guide a junior team member in maintaining records, tracking opportunities and ensuring smooth administrative operations.
  1. Employer Engagement (Internships & Careers)
  • Build and maintain relationships with legal employers and relevant industry organisations to expand and strengthen internship and career opportunities.
  • Consult with employers to understand evolving hiring needs and co-develop meaningful internship roles.
  • Promote Law students to employers and encourage the posting of internship, training contract and graduate employment opportunities.
  • Represent the Law School at networking sessions, employer dialogues and engagement events.
  • Work collaboratively with Career Advisors to strengthen career pathways and student employability outcomes.
  1. Career Events & Student Development Programmes
  • Partner with the Careers Team Lead to plan and implement key initiatives such as the Law Careers Fair, Law Alumni Mentor Programme activities, employer talks and employability skills workshops.
  • Oversee end-to-end event coordination, including logistics, vendor and speaker liaison, registrations, feedback collection and post-event evaluation.
  • Support the development and promotion of career-related communications via the Careers website, Telegram channel and other digital platforms, including creating, updating, and managing webpages using WordPress.
  1. Grants, Data & Operational Oversight
  • Support the administration of student grants and fellowships linked to internships, including tracking applications, utilisation and disbursement processes.
  • Maintain and enhance systems for collecting, tracking and reporting participation and programme data.
  • Assist with graduate outcome surveys and the compilation of career statistics.
  • Track programme budgets and expenditures, ensuring proper record-keeping and financial accountability.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and provide operational support across the Careers and Student Affairs teams as required.
Requirements
  • Recognised Bachelor's degree. Experience in higher education, career development, human capital, programme management or the legal sector will be viewed favourably.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex programmes involving multiple stakeholders and detailed processes.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging students, faculty, employers and senior stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data and feedback to drive improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable working with data and digital systems, including website content management using WordPress.
  • Able to manage communications across digital and social media platforms (e.g. Telegram, Instagram, LinkedIn and website), and design simple publicity materials such as digital posters.
  • Prior supervisory experience is advantageous.
