The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 19-month contract at the Policy, Curriculum, and Leadership Department.
Project Title: What is worth leading for? School leaders' beliefs of education and schooling in Singapore [SRF 15/24 MTLT]
Project Introduction: A professionalised teaching service is predicated upon staff who can be trusted to make defensible decisions, especially when compliance to rules becomes inadequate. School leaders are localised authorities who are tasked with deciding the educational value of school based projects. This must mean that leaders have a good appreciation of the breadth of the concept of education, as a restriction into a tightly bounded system (e.g. reduction into “learning”) will not cover all the senses in which education is, or ought to be.
School leaders’ beliefs of education are thus of interest. This project seeks to characterise the range of beliefs held by school leaders in Singapore.
