We are seeking an IT Support Engineer to support ourexpanding customer base in a high-impact, fast-moving environment. This roleplays a key part in delivering responsive, high-quality support across complexmaritime IT and connectivity environments deployed globally.
As an IT Support Engineer, you will be hands-on in providingday-to-day technical support for vessels. You will handle incidenttroubleshooting and rectification, support onboard hardware and software, andassist with vessel onboarding and system deployments.Working closely withinternal teams, you will help ensure issues are resolved efficiently,consistently, and in line with service expectations.
Job Scope:
- Ensure vessel IT support requests are promptly addressed,coordinating with vendors when necessary to resolve issues.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for technicalsupport calls and emails from vessels regarding computer, application, andconnectivity issues.
- Oversee the setup, installation, and configuration ofonboard computers, software, and network infrastructure (up to Level 2).
- Maintain accurate network infrastructure documentationfor each vessel.
- Provide remote assistance to vessels, coordinating acrosstime zones to ensure timely support.
- Diagnose and guide the resolution of network, hardware,and software issues.
- Maintain inventories of hardware and software across thefleet.
- Assist in ensuring timely quotation, procurement, anddelivery of IT equipment to vessels.
- Support project preparation and deployment to meetcustomer requirements, providing technical input and guidance to the team.
- Gain exposure to and oversee support for other ITsegments, including OT equipment, CCTV, WiFi infrastructure, and satellitecommunications.
Requirements:
- Physically fit to board vessels for site support (a fewdays per month); onboard allowance provided.
- Proficient in Level 1 networking, Windows OS, MS Office,WiFi networking, network infrastructure, firewalls, VLANs, routing, Outlook,and NAS/cloud management.
- Flexible to work irregular hours, including weekends andpublic holidays, depending on vessel schedules.
- Able to work independently, with strong attention todetail in preparing proper documentation for work completion.
- Highly motivated, keen to learn, and driven to excel.
