In-House Legal Associate - Toa Payoh

The successful candidate will be a force multiplier, enabling the Legal Associate to focus on high-value strategic work.

Key Responsibilities:

• IP Portfolio Management: Support end-to-end management of intellectual property assets, including drafting and filing patent/trademark applications, maintaining records, and managing renewal deadlines.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, partnership agreements, NDAs, and employment contracts.
• Review and interpret contracts written in Chinese and provide accurate legal analysis to management.
• Provide legal and compliance support on cross-border transactions and business activities.
• Advise on corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters across different jurisdictions.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to align legal guidance with business strategy, ensuring practical and solution-oriented advice.
• Support fundraising and other strategic initiatives common in start-up and high-growth environments.
• Manage external counsel and coordinate legal matters across multiple jurisdictions when necessary.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Singapore or another common law jurisdiction is preferred.
• 2–4 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal team, with exposure to start-up or high-growth companies. However, we will also consider newly admitted lawyers in the Singapore Courts.
• Strong understanding of business operations in a regional (Southeast Asia / Asia-Pacific) context.
• Proficient in written and spoken Mandarin to coordinate and provide legal assistance to Mandarin-speaking colleagues and counterparts.
• Additional requirements:
• Proficiency in translating between English and Chinese.
• In-depth knowledge of IP laws and contract laws in Singapore and China.
• Familiarity with laws of other jurisdictions is a bonus.
