Assistant sales manager | furniture
About us
The Kurater is a design-led furniture brand sourcing globally curated pieces for homeowners and trade professionals. Operating from our Kallang Experience Centre, we connect clients — architects, interior designers, and developers — with quality furniture sourced directly from manufacturers, delivered to site without the overhead of warehousing or inventory.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role for a sales professional ready to step up. As Assistant Manager, you will lead a small project sales team of 4–5, owning both the commercial output and the day-to-day operational rigour that underpins it. You will manage active project pipelines, develop your team's capability, and maintain the client relationships that keep The Kurater's reputation intact.
You will also serve as the operational bridge between our Singapore sales team and our backend operations team in China — keeping specifications, timelines, and order status aligned across both sides.
Key responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development- Lead, mentor, and develop a sales team of 4–5 across project and trade accounts
- Participate in candidate interviews to support team hiring decisions
- Monitor individual sales performance and provide structured coaching for consistency
- Conduct product training to ensure the team can advise clients with confidence
- Maintain and update the sales pipeline — tracking project status, deal progression, and conversion rates
- Own sales projections and report regularly against targets
- Identify hero products and best-sellers to inform proposals and sales focus
- Coordinate with marketing to ensure alignment between sales activity and brand positioning
- Manage and grow relationships with VIP clients across the project and trade segment
- Resolve major customer complaints with ownership and speed — protecting the brand relationship
- Ensure timely collection of payments in line with project milestones
- Liaise with our China operations team (in Mandarin) to align on order status, lead times, and specifications
- Ensure the team's adherence to SOPs across the full sales and fulfilment cycle
- Minimum 3 years in project or specification-led sales — furniture, finishing materials, or related furnishing sectors preferred
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity
- Proven track record closing project accounts with architects, interior designers, or property developers
- Professional Mandarin (spoken and written) for routine liaison with our China operations team
- Operationally sharp — comfortable owning pipeline data, sales reports, and SOP compliance, not just relationships
- Calm under pressure, particularly when managing client escalations or delivery issues
