Research Fellow on Human–AI Collaboration at Work
About Us:The Future of Innovation Lab at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC), Singapore University of Technology and Design, explores how emerging technologies such as (generative) AI are transforming the nature of work, expertise, and collaboration.
We are looking for a full-time Research Fellow with strong qualitative research skills and a keen interest in Human-AI collaboration to join our interdisciplinary research team. This role will contribute to a research project on the evolving dynamics of workplace expertise and human-machine teaming.Moreover, the consequences of such digital transformation are explored in the context of workforce and labor developments, organisational innovation, and learning/education.
About the Position:This position is ideal for someone who is excited about in-depth qualitative research and enjoys working closely with organisations and agencies to understand complex work practices. The Research Fellow will:
- Conduct and analyse qualitative research (interviews, focus groups, observations, surveys) with professionals in organisations
- Lead and assist in designing research protocols and data collection instruments
- Work with companies and organisational partners to set up, schedule, and conduct research engagements
- Write literature reviews and assist in theoretical development around Human-AI collaboration
- Collaborate on writing academic papers, reports, and white papers
- Communicate research findings to public and private stakeholders
- Support developments in Human-AI collaboration within the university
Requirements:
Must-Have:
- A PhD in fields related to work, organisations, labour studies, business, or sociology
- Demonstrated experience with qualitative research methods, including observations and/or in-depth ethnographic fieldwork
- Interest in or familiarity with generative AI and its implications for work and expertise
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong organisational and data management skills
- Interest in working in an interdisciplinary team, including sociologists, economists, algorithm engineers, and educational specialists
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in industry or applied research settings
- Familiarity with workplace-based or ethnographic research
- Exposure to survey design and basic mixed methods
