The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) is an academic research centre based in Duke-NUS Medical School.We bring together interdisciplinary expertise spanning public health, demography, anthropology, sociology, epidemiology and psychology, to conduct community-engaged research on the determinants of healthy ageing.
CARE is a vibrant, inclusive workplace made up of people from diverse academic and personal backgrounds who share a commitment to rigorous, community-centred research. We are looking for a Research Assistant or Research Associate with experience and genuine interest in qualitative research to join our dynamic team.Our current projects explore themes at the heart of ageing today: loneliness and social isolation, health equity, social inclusion, community empowerment, intergenerational design, climate and age-friendly environments, formal and informal care work, and heritage-based interventions.
You will contribute across a range of research activities, including but not limited to- - Analysis and knowledge translation: Code and analyse qualitative data, and turning findings into compelling visuals, narratives, and accessible outputs for stakeholders
- Writing and dissemination: Draft research reports, policy briefs and manuscripts for academic publication and public audiences
- Project coordination: keeping projects on track — Manage timelines, expenses, IRB approvals, data collection, transcription, procurement, and relationships with stakeholders and community partners
- Fieldwork and Data Collection: Conduct in-depth interviews, moderate focus group discussions, and facilitate co-design workshops with diverse communities
- Support CARE's broader initiatives and events
- - Bachelor's Degree (Research Assistant) /Master's Degree (Research Associate), or equivalent, in the social sciences or public health — including but not limited to Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Public Health, or Nursing
- Experience in conducting independent qualitative analysis, drafting and publishing research reports and academic manuscripts with minimal supervision
- Strong sense of ethical responsibility and cultural sensitivity when working with older adults and/or vulnerable populations
- Familiar with local ageing, health, and/or social policy contexts in Singapore
- Possess genuine interest in conducting both evaluation and exploratory research that shapes policies and programmes relevant to population ageing
- Commit to strengthening qualitative research capabilities in the ageing and healthcare sector
- Possess excellent Powerpoint skills and track record of academic publication will be an advantage
