Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Choa Chu Kang

Position Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and plays a key role in executing the site’s maintenance program. The role is responsible for overseeing contractor activities, supporting production operations, and contributing to minor capital projects and other site-related initiatives.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance (PM & CM) for utilities, facilities, and manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. Tasks include cleaning, lubrication, and avoiding equipment mishandling.
• Conduct condition monitoring and predictive maintenance on critical equipment. Take timely corrective action to prevent equipment failure and minimize both planned and unplanned downtime.
• Operate and maintain systems including steam boilers, water treatment, HVAC, air compressors, and chemical and gas distribution networks.
• Support the Fire Safety Manager (FSM) in maintaining fire alarm and fire protection systems.
• Perform testing, commissioning, and inspection of equipment or systems after maintenance or project completion, prior to handover to Operations.
• Interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications to carry out equipment installations or major repair tasks.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors performing mechanical work, ensuring efficient execution of maintenance tasks.
• Enforce compliance with site safety, health, and environmental standards for all contractor activities. Ensure completion of Site Induction Course (SIC) and proper risk assessments prior to task execution.
• Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive, update, and close work orders and checklists. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation in the system.
• Maintain up-to-date maintenance records and ensure thorough documentation of all work performed.
• Provide regular updates on maintenance progress to supervisors on a daily or ad hoc basis.
• Support the development and implementation of new equipment installations and plant expansion projects.
• Assist with the management of spare parts inventory and maintenance consumables.

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance (rotating and static equipment) within a petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing facility in Singapore.
• Diploma, NITEC, or Higher NITEC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong field-based maintenance experience is essential.
• Proficient in basic mechanical tasks, including the use of hand and power tools.
• Foundational understanding of process control, refrigeration systems, boilers, steam systems, pumps, heat exchangers, LOTO procedures, and general industrial safety practices.
• Exposure to electrical maintenance work is a plus.
• Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with CMMS software is advantageous.

• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SS651, cGMP standards, microbial control practices, and Clean Design principles is a plus.
